A note from Jeri
When I was a child, I would spend hours enjoying and studying the detail and beauty of the illustrations in our storybooks. To this very day, it is usually the images from these books that I recall, even though the story itself may be long forgotten to me. I vaguely remember the story of the Shoemakers Elves.... but the painting of those little elves working feverishly in the candlelight with the moon glowing in the distance through the mullioned windows is forever etched in my memory. Little Golden books illustrated by Eloise Wilkin still sit on my bookshelf and my tattered copies of Beatrix Potter's books are often referred to for inspiration.
My goal is to provide children and adults with beautiful artwork in stories that are a delight to read .
I spent two years on the illustrations for "Hopalong Jack and the Blue Bunnies". Within this book you will find 36 large pages loaded with artwork rendered in persnickety detail. There is even a map and a close up look at the inside of the Hopalong home, right down to the tiny dishes. The illustrations were done with watercolor and a bit of pen and ink. The endpapers were rendered in papercutting.
Story synopsis: Hopalong Jack is a rabbit with a predicament. He has SO many brothers and sisters that he feels LOST in a sea of ears. How can a bunny stand out in the crowd? Join Jack as he comes up with one plan after another to solve his dilemma, only to have each of these plans backfire on him. What's a wee bun to do??? Jack finally figures it all out and learns a valuable lesson along the way. I think, that if Peter Rabbit were ever to meet "Hopalong Jack" they would be very good friends. Jeri Painted 374 rabbits for this book, give or take a bunny or two. She doesn't really want to paint any more rabbits for quite a while. The next book in this series is due out in Dec. 2007 and will introduce a new set of characters from Hopalong Hollow, specifically a little lost squirrel.

Bunnies love
tea, it’s their favorite brew;
Sassafras, mint, lemon, to name just a few.
Yes, rabbits sip tea, neath the shade of a tree;
And they drink lots and lots and lots...
In fact, Mrs. Whiskerkins owns 25 pots!
(Teapots, of course.)
